Recent trade and technological changes have often hurt blue-collar manufacturing but left white-collar workers unscathed. Baldwin thinks this is about to change via what he awkwardly calls “globotics”, meaning globalisation mixed with new kinds of robotics, from artificial intelligence to technologies that make it easier to outsource services jobs.
