It's actually fairly easy:

  • install Ghostery extension on Firefox or Chrome (not AdBlock or AdBlock Plus, as they only stop visually intrusive ads, not tracking ads -- AdBlock Plus is paid by Google to let their ads through, with tracking)
  • install Brave
